We are pleased to announce the launch of our newest publication: The Veritas Papers. They are a set of 15 pamphlets that cover a wide range of issues from the ethnic cleansing of Palestine to the boycott movement to celebrities who support the cause. Each of the pamphlets can fit on a single letter-sized page. They are available for a free PDF download and we highly encourage all to print and distribute them as widely as possible. We also made a mildly entertaining youtube video to spread the word.

One of the most difficult aspects of outreach is finding appropriate materials that a general audience will find interesting and informative. The history is indeed detailed, however, the problem is pretty simple in that it is the story of the occupied vs. the occupier. When we released The Veritas Handbook in July 2010, one of the most common things the editor heard was “Whaaaat…. 347 pages?!” For these (lazy) individuals, and those completely uninformed, we decided to release The Veritas Papers, something much shorter and accessible.

When reading and distributing The Veritas Papers, we ask you to keep in mind the words of Rafeef Ziadeh, who, in her (excellent) piece titled “We teach life,sir” says:“Today, my body was a TV’d massacre that had to fit into sound-bites and word limits filled enough with statistics...” The Palestinian struggle cannot be limited to, nor demeaned to fit a few pieces of paper. It cannot fit into word limits and papers.This is a human struggle, and no words can do it justice.

What makes The Veritas Papers stand out amongst other pamphlets, is their accessibility and attractiveness. Each of the papers has been designed to print on a single letter-sized paper (on both sides), in a booklet format, and they look pretty good. There is a grand total of 15 papers including addenda.

We have designed them in colour (so they look pretty good, if we do say so ourselves)—but they also print pretty nicely in black and white.
Fact Checked: Due to the space limitations on an 8.5x11 piece of paper, our references are linked on our website instead. Send all doubters there! The website contains links to the resources used in each paper and we hope that this will make our work more accountable and reliable.

These papers can hardly be called an introduction. Rather, the purpose of these papers is to garner an interest for people to educate themselves on the occupation. There are so many subjects that still need to be covered, including media, prisoners, refugees, children, solutions, access to resources and more. We hope to cover these in the soon future.

d) Any measures, including legislative measures, designed to divide the population along racial lines by the creation of separate reserves and ghettos for the members of a racial group or groups, the prohibition of mixed marriages among members of various racial groups, the expropriation of landed property belonging to a racial group or groups or to members thereof;

e) Exploitation of the labour of the members of a racial group or groups, in particular by submitting them to forced labour;

f) Persecution of organizations and persons, by depriving them of fundamental rights and freedoms, because they oppose apartheid.”

For any printing, please download the original files from the Google Docs folder (hit the right hand top corner "download original" or hit CTRL+S). For more detailed download options, please go to our download page.

NOTE: Do not print directly from Google Docs, follow the instructions below to get a one page, book-fold, pamphlet.

Each of the Veritas Papers has been designed to fit on a single sheet of letter-sized paper. However, with the way we have formatted it, you might not totally understand how you're supposed to print it. And that's totally okay, because here's your detailed printing instructions.

First of all, we highly suggest you invest in some colour printing… itjust looks better! In the future we will look into printing these at acost-effective price for clubs, but for now, try to find some donors who willhelp your group get some colourful pamphlets out there. Generally speaking, ifyou were to print in colour, each copy would cost you $1.20.If you are to print in black and white, each copy willcost $0.25. We tested printing in black and white, and the pamphlets don't look bad at all (though they certainly look better in colour).

If you do not have Adobe Reader, you will need to download Adobe Reader in order to print these documents.Each document will require one letter-sized page (8.5x11) and will requiredouble-sided printing in order for the booklet format to be achieved. Use original files only to ensure quality printing.

Paper 6: Apartheid

Chapters/ Indigo/ Coles bookstores are a large chain of bookstores across Canada. The CEO, majority share-holder and founder of the bookstore chain, Heather Reisman (and her husband) are also pro-Israeli activists. They have an intimate relationship with Israeli officials and more importantly, an intricate relationship with the Israeli military. To be highlighted is their founding of the organization "Heseg" for Lone Soldiers, in which foreigners who volunteer to serve in the Israeli Defense Forces are given full scholarships to live in Israel. Thus, Chapters has been the target of a boycott campaign as people of conscience refuse to buy from a company complicit in the war crimes against Palestiniians and one which encourages Israeli military culture.

This quote was changed significantly to seem as though it is not explicitly supporting the Israeli military (which is a futile effort being the organization supports former soldiers only). Notice the following changes:

Motorola Israel (wholly owned by Motorola USA) is another company that directly profits off of the war crimes of the Israeli occupation. It is the first branch outside of the USA where Motorola has operated and has been in Israel since the ethnic cleansing of 1948. Although it sold one of its units that was directly creating bomb fusers for the Israeli army (a reason for this move was not given) after Motorola serial numbers were discovered in the aftermath of Operation Cast Lead by Human Rights Watch-- it is still heavily invested in the Israeli army, most infamously including its design for an IDF cellular network known as "Mountain Rose". Even after selling its GED (Government Electronics Department), Motorola has continued to work with the Israeli army in their technological development, making suggestions and more.
